My Childcare Philosophy

I believe that children have the potential for great things. They deserve respect and a safe, loving environment that promotes learning, personal growth and fun. My goal is to provide a comfortable place where your children can grow and play while you are away that demonstrates these values. It is also my philosophy that a child should be given as many opportunities as possible to learn, through song, books, lots of free-play, and gentle encouragement.

Personal Background

My name is Stacy Tweedy. I started my in-home childcare in the beginning of 2007. I am married and have a beautiful 3 year old daughter. I love teaching and playing with children, and am proud to make it my career.

I truly believe that children are life's greatest treasures, and knowing that I make a difference in children's lives brings me such great joy.

I am registered as a Child Development Home- Category A with the State of Iowa. Not only does this require a criminal background check on myself, but on my husband as well.

I am a ChildNet Certified Provider as of July 19, 2007. I take pride in renewing my certification every two years.  For more information on ChildNet, please visit the FAQs page.

I have a Child Development Associate Credential from the Council for Professional Recognition, which I received in 2008. This process involves a year long study program, an on site observation of myself working with children, a verbal interview, and a written exam. For more information on the Council for Professional Recognition, please visit my FAQs page.

My program is involved in the QRS program through the Department of Human Services. I am in the process of renewing my rating, and it will be upgrading from a two star program to a three star program.

I am also enrolled in courses at DMACC to acheive an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I attend evening courses once or twice a week, to further my education and enhance the care I bring to the children enrolled in my program.

Environment

Our home is completely smoke-free, and smoking is not allowed on the premesis by guests during childcare hours. This was a personal business decision even before it became a law passed by the State of Iowa.

We are blessed with a dedicated play room for the children to spend the majority of their indoor play time in. We do make good use of the rest of the house. Our home is 1800 square feet, and we use it for arts, crafts, dancing, pretend play, and so much more. Children are encouraged to treat my home as if it were there own. With that not only comes comfort and relaxation, but responsibilty and personal accountability.

This is our cat, Pinky-Spice. She is a domestic long hair, and spends most of her time hiding or sleeping. She is friendly with the children- when she decides she wants to attention!
